Shaykh Al-Allaamah Abdullaah ibn Jibreen (rahimahullaah) former member of the major scholars in Saudi Arabia, dictated 10 means to stay constant in doing good deeds after Ramadhan, and this was part of his answer to a question posed to him:
First and before everything: Seeking aid from Allaah upon guidance and steadfastness.
And Allaah has praised the supplication of the scholars:
﴿ رَبَّنَا لا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ ﴾
“Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.” [1]
Second: To increase in sitting with the righteous ones, and to be enthusiastic on the general sittings of remembrance of Allaah like lectures, and the specific ones like visitations (of pious company).
Third: Knowing the lives (biographies) of the righteous ones, and that is by reading books or listening to tapes, and especially more emphasizes on the lives (biographies) of the Companions: because this affirms zeal and strong will in the heart.
Fourth: To frequent in listening to tapes/ recordings which are emotionally moving like Khutbahs, admonitions.
Fifth: Diligence upon the obligatory deeds, like the five prayers, and making up of missed fasts of Ramadhan: due to the great good which the obligatory deeds carry.
Sixth: Diligence upon the voluntary deeds, even a few which is easy and loved by the soul. Surely the most beloved deeds to Allaah are the continuance ones even if they are little, as was said by the Prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam).
Seventh: Starting to memorize the Book of Allaah, and constantly continuing upon reciting it, and reciting the memorized parts in the voluntary prayers.
Eighth: Increasing in Dhikr (remembrance / mention of Allaah), and Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness from Allaah)[2] : surely these are easy deeds but their benefit is great, it increases the ‘Eeman and strengthens the heart.
Ninth: Staying far away as possible from ‘the corrupters of the heart’ : like bad friends, and the television, and satellite channels, and listening to music, and looking at obscene magazines.
Tenth: I advise you onto hastened repentance …. The sincere repentance -which by the will of Allaah- there is no turning back. For indeed Allaah becomes very happy when his servant repents.
