Excerpt from the book: “The Accepted Du’a”
Chapter: The Excellence & Importance Of Du’a
10. Making Du’a is being free from the trait of laziness:
And it shows he has the opposite characteristic; that he is smart and he is somebody who knows what he wants.
The prophet (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallaam) says:
أَعْجَزُ النَّاسِ مَنْ عَجِزَ عَنِ الدُّعَاءِ وَأَبْخَلُ النَّاسِ مَنْ بَخِلَ بِالسَّلاَمِ
“The weakest [the most incapable of people] is the one who is so weak that he does not make du’a, and the most stingy is the one who is too stingy to give salaam.”
[Albaani authenticated it in Saheeh al-Jaami’: 1044]
…
(Sheikh Muhammad Hamad commented): So the weakest of the people in ideas, the lowest of them in zeal, and the blindest of them in insight: is the one who is lazy to make Du’a, this is because Du’a never harms you; rather it benefits.
