From the Excellences of Salaat ‘ala an-Nabiyy فضل الصلاة على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم :
” اللهم صل على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد “
Allaahumma swali ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhammad….. to the end, which means: ‘O Allah mention Muhammad amongst those noble angels who around you, and raise him in status, and shower your mercy on him. And do so for his family (followers) as well, just as you did so for Ibraahim and his family (followers).’
1670- Ubayy ibn K’ab (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) said:
Whenever a fourth of the night had elapsed the Messenger of Allah (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) would say:
“O people, remember Allah, the first blowing of the horn has moved closer, and following it is the second one, death has come with what entails from it, death has come with what entails from it.”
Ubayy ibn K’ab (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) said: I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I make du’aa a lot, so how much should I apportion -for the salaat on you- in my du’aa?’
He said: ‘As you wish.’
I said: ‘A Fourth?’
He said: ‘As you wish, and if you increased then it is good for you.’
I said: ‘A Half?’
He said: ‘As you wish, and if you increased then it is good for you’
I said: ‘Two thirds?’
He said: ‘As you wish, and if you increased then it is good for you’
I said: ‘I will make all my supplications for you.’
He said: ‘Then your needs will be sufficed, and your sins will be forgiven.’
Narrated by Ahmad, and al-Haakim and he said It is saheeh, and at-Tirmidhee and he said: ‘Hadith hasan saheeh’, and in another narration from him:
That a man said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what do you think if I make all my supplications for you.’
He said: “Then Allah the Blessed and Exalted will suffice you of what concerns you of the needs of the world and the here-after.”
Narrated with a good chain.
1671- Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Hibban narrated from his father from his grandfather:
That a man said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, should I apportion a third of my du’aa for you?’
He said: ‘Yes if you wish.’
He said: ‘Two thirds?’
He said: ‘Yes.’
He said: ‘then all of it.’
So the Messenger of Allah (s.w) said: “Then Allah will suffice you of the needs of your worldly affairs and your here-after.”
Narrated by at-Tabaraanee with a hasan chain. Sheikh Albaani graded it as: Hasan Lighayrihi
All the ahadeeth are from Saheeh Targheeb wa Tarheeb of Imam Albaani
