A man came to Hasan al-Basri and asked him:
” I have a daughter whom I love a lot, and many have came for her and proposed to her, whom do you advise me to get her married to?”
He said: “Marry her to the person who fears Allah. For if he loves her; he’ll make her special and treat her in a noble way, and if he doesn’t like her; he won’t oppress her!”
The Prophet (sallahallahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“When a man comes to propose and you are pleased with his deen and his manners; get him married. If you don’t; there shall be a lot of fitna (trials & tribulations) and a lot of corruption (evil).”
